First ‘Masters of the Universe’ Film Debuted in 1987
In 1987, the first live-action adaptation of ‘Masters of the Universe’ was released in theaters. The film starred Dolph Lundgren, who brought the character He-Man to life. He-Man originated as a popular action figure created by the toy company Mattel.
Despite the involvement of Lundgren and the established popularity of the Mattel toy line, the movie was not a financial success. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film failed to flex at the box office following its theatrical release.
