AMD extends Socket AM5 support through 2029; AM4 remains active
AMD has announced that it will extend support for its Socket AM5 platform through at least 2029. The commitment ensures that the current generation of motherboards will remain compatible with new CPU releases for the foreseeable future.
Despite the focus on the newer platform, the older AM4 socket continues to see activity. The company has reintroduced the Ryzen 7 5800X3D processor, pricing it at $349.
Additionally, AMD has debuted a new processor for the AM5 platform. The Ryzen 7 7700X3D launches with a price tag of $329.
